Visit Michigan's Mackinac Island, the “Bermuda of the North,” where no motorized vehicles are allowed – only bicycles and horse-drawn carriages. Savor the aroma of world-famous Mackinac Island fudge and enjoy a carriage tour of the island as you view this captivating locale. We'll also experience the marvel of American ingenuity during a visit to The Henry Ford Museum.
Day 1 – Dearborn, MI – Our coach heads north into the “Great Lakes State” for our first overnight in Dearborn.
Day 2 – Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village – Frankenmuth, MI – After an included breakfast, we visit the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. Here, we will discover the history of America through its appliances, furniture, transportation, agriculture, and more. In the living history museum of Greenfield Village, we will see a collection of buildings spanning more than 300 years of American history from Thomas Edison’s laboratory to the courthouse where Abraham Lincoln practiced law. We overnight in Frankenmuth. Dinner is included.
Day 3 – Mackinac Island – Grand Hotel – After an included breakfast, we drive to St. Ignace where we board the ferry that takes us to Mackinac Island. This afternoon, we stop at the Grand Hotel where the hotel’s 700-foot veranda leads us into an enormous lobby decorated with priceless works of art. Included is the hotel’s delicious lunch buffet of mouthwatering delights spread over ten tables. Next, we will transfer to our hotel accommodations for the next two nights. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 4 – Carriage Tour of the Island – We begin our day with a horse-drawn carriage tour of Mackinac Island, then give you the rest of the day free to roam through the downtown shops, or maybe rent a bicycle for a ride around the island. Overnight same hotel.
Day 5 – Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland – Enjoy some leisure time this morning in Mackinac before boarding the ferry that takes us back to the mainland. Back on the bus, we’ll drive across the Mighty Mac Bridge that connects Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsula. Back in Frankenmuth, we’ll visit Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland before checking into our hotel.
Day 6 – Home – After an included breakfast, we begin our journey home with many memories of the natural beauty of Mackinac Island.
